Carol J. Zierhoffer is the Senior Vice President and Global Chief Information Officer for Bechtel Corporation. She assumed this role in September 2013. Carol oversees the vision, strategy, and planning for Bechtel’s Global Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) organization. She is responsible for IS&T’s infrastructure technology operations as well as software applications development and deployment of technology solutions into Bechtel business lines and projects. Bechtel is a privately held corporation with revenue of $38B in 2012 and 53,000 professionals, administrative and craft employees around the world. The Bechtel portfolio encompasses energy, transportation, communications, mining, oil and gas, and government services with projects in dozens of locations worldwide, from Alaska to Australia.
Prior to joining Bechtel, Carol was Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Xerox Corporation from January 2012 – September 2013 where she was responsible for all aspects of Information Technology (IT).
Prior to Xerox, Carol was the Vice President and Chief Information Officer for ITT Corporation from October 2008 – December 2011. She oversaw the transformation initiative to implement SAP worldwide, driving to common and efficient global processes and enterprise wide shared services. Based on decision to split the company into three separate publicly traded companies, she oversaw the IT and Shared Services separation to spin off Xylem, Inc (NYSE: XYL) and Exelis, Inc (NYSE: XLS). The double tax-free spin was completed in 9 months.
Carol joined ITT following a 20-year career with Northrop Grumman. She was Vice President and Chief Information Officer for three different Northrop Grumman sectors. Prior to her role at Northrop Grumman, Carol held management positions in IT and Finance at Fidelity Investments and AVCO Systems Textron.
Carol holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of New Hampshire and a master's degree in computer information systems from Bentley University. Carol currently serves on the board of Directors at Vizient, Inc., as a member of the Data and Analytics Committee. Carol previously served on the board of Directors at MedAssets, Inc., as a member of the Audit Committee and Chairperson of the Information Technology Committee from 2013 –2016.
