Dan Olley has been Global CTO of Elsevier, the science business for RELX Group, since 2013. He is a leading exponent of data driven agile development and big data and analytics technologies. Dan has utilized his background in product management and software product development to lead the successful transformation of the technology organization into a consolidated global division, dramatically improving cost efficiency while continuing to help the organization grow its online data and product revenues.
Dan joined Reed Business Information, a RELX Group sister company, in 2004 as head of the Web and Product development division and later became head for all technology. While at RELX, Dan has been instrumental in the company’s evolution from a traditional print-based business to a digital solutions provider across the healthcare, financial, chemical, aviation and academic industries RELX Group serve. By combining advances in natural language processing, big data and machine learning, Dan has helped move these products from static reference data repositories to real time decision support and recommendation tools.
Prior to joining RELX Group, Dan held technology and product development leadership roles with GM Financial, Wunderman Cato Johnson, and IBM, as well as a number of UK and international software organizations.
