Kristin Darby serves as Chief Information Officer of Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). Cancer Treatment Centers of America is a network of treatment facilities that includes hospitals in Chicago, Philadelphia, Tulsa, Phoenix, and Atlanta. In addition to serving as a member of the CTCA executive leadership team, Darby is the principal strategist and architect for the organization’s Information Services (IS) function which includes all clinical and non-clinical hardware and software applications, data infrastructure, warehousing and security, clinical informatics as well as system-wide technology support services. She is also responsible for Enterprise Reporting & Analytics and innovation.
Darby began her career in the healthcare industry in 1994 as an accountant working for a CPA firm focused on physician office management and financial services. She joined Fresenius Medical Care, a large international dialysis products and medical services company in 1996, as an accountant and internal auditor before transitioning into the field of Information Technology in 1998. Darby’s role as a national IT Director included responsibilities of managing a team that was responsible for the IT function at over 2,000 outpatient medical facilities and over 300 acute locations. In 2009, Darby joined Risk Management Foundation of the Harvard Medical Institutions as the Chief Information Officer (CIO), VP of Information Solutions. The organization is the patient safety and captive medical malpractice company owned by the Harvard Medical Institutions. In 2012, Darby joined Vanguard Health Systems as the Chief Information Officer and Vice President of IT&S for the Northeast Region which includes hospitals in New England and Illinois. Darby’s responsibilities included overseeing the region’s Information Technology and Informatics strategy for the hospitals, population health services and outpatient centers. In 2013, Vanguard Health Systems merged with Tenet Healthcare Corporation.
Darby holds a Bachelor’s Degree with dual majors in Accounting and Management Information Systems at University of South Florida and an MBA from Henley Business School in Oxfordshire, England. Darby is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Healthcare CIO. She was recognized as Computerworld's Premier 100 Technology Leaders for 2016, awarded the CIO100 award in 2014 & 2015 by CIO Magazine, recognized by Becker’s Healthcare as 12 Standout CIOs in 2015, recognized as CIO of the Year by the Boston Business Journal and Mass High Tech in 2014, and recognized as a 40 Under 40 Rising Star by the Boston Business Journal in 2010.
Darby is serving on the Board of Directors and as Chair of the Audit Committee of Addgene. Ms. Darby is a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow and speaks frequently in national and international conferences regarding healthcare information technology topics. She is a co-inventor and patent holder for
