With nearly a 30 year Information Technology career serving both in North America and Europe and more than 25 years with Toyota, Tim Platt was appointed to lead the Information Systems Division for Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TEMA) in June of 2009 and named Vice President in January of 2011. In 2015, he was named Group Vice President and Chief Divisional Information Officer for the newly integrated Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) Information Systems organization.
His scope includes leading 9 executives known as Divisional Information Officers in business engagement and information technology delivery for all business units across Toyota Motor North America’s more than 85 R&D, manufacturing, sales and headquarter facilities across the USA, Canada and Mexico. More than 2.0M vehicles are produced at the facilities annually and more than 2.4 M vehicles are through the operations and approximately 1500 dealers. Many of the 14 models built in North America are designed within these facilities as well. Exporting to over 20 countries, over $30B in procurement is required.
He is a member of Toyota’s Global CIO group aligning and setting direction for Toyota’s global operations of over 65 manufacturing facilities and automotive sales in more than 160 countries and regions.
He is an Advisory Member and Guest Speaker for Institutions of Higher Learning and Industry Forums and is active with and been recognized by a number of CIO associations.
He is an Eagle Scout and Active Volunteer with scouting organizations at unit, district and national levels.
He was an honor student studying Mathematics, Computer Science and Business.
He was selected among Computerworld Magazine’s Premier 100 IT Leaders in 2014.
